Read the Label

Every Histiacil SKU has a different active ingredient and dosing schedule. Always follow the specific instructions printed on the package for the product you have in hand.

Measure Accurately

Use the dosing cup, syringe, or spoon included with each product. Kitchen spoons vary in size and can lead to under- or over-dosing — especially dangerous for infants.

Don't Mix Products

Do not combine two Histiacil products (or any cough medicine) without consulting a pediatrician or pharmacist, especially with children. Each formula is dosed to work alone.

Important: If cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache — stop and consult a healthcare provider. These are signs the cough may not be a simple cold.

Not for Infants Under 2 Months

The NF Syrups and Softgels are not appropriate for infants. The Pediatric supplement is the only Histiacil product tested and recommended for children under 6.

MAOI Interaction Warning

Dextromethorphan-containing products (all NF SKUs) must not be taken with or within 2 weeks of stopping MAOI antidepressants. Ask a doctor or pharmacist if unsure.

Stop and Ask a Doctor If

Cough lasts more than 7 days, returns, or occurs with rash, fever, or persistent headache. These may be signs of a more serious condition.
